| What are the event dates for 2015? |
| |
We will be hosting The Assaults on May 18, 2015 - and yes, that is a Monday. |
|
The Mt. Mitchell State Park does not allow any large events - especially as big as the Assault on Mt. Mitchell - on the weekends between May 1 and Oct 31. For this reason, a few years ago, the events moved to Monday. |
| What does it cost? |
| |
The Assault on Marion is $40 |
|
The Assault on Mount Mitchell is $135 |
|
- Every registrant receives a free t-shirt specific to the event. Both are available in male and female cut.
- Jerseys, shorts and other accessories will also be available for purchase. All will be available once full registration is open.
|
| When does Registration open/close for the Assaults 2015? |
| |

Typically, registration for the Assault on Mt. Mitchell opens on January 15, 2015 at 7:00 AM to all Freewheeler members in good standing and on February 1st at 7:00 AM to the general public. It will close as soon as we reach the 1000 rider limit!

|
| Are there entry requirements to be able to ride the Assault on Mt. Mitchell? |
| |
In the past it was required that you ride the Assault on Marion first. This requirement became difficult to enforce because of inaccurate accounts of the Assault on Marion finishers. There are no current prerequisites to ride the Assault on Mt. Mitchell. |
| When does membership have to be renewed in order to be able to get a pass code for 2015? |
| |
The Freewheeler's membership drive is from October 1 through December 31 every year. Join the Freewheelers to ensure an early registration pass code or go ahead and take advantage of the Early Bird Special.

| |
Joining or renewing your membership during this time is the only way to be eligible to either pre-register or receive a pass code the following February.
i.e. you must have joined/renewed by 12-31-13 at midnight to get a pass code in Jan of 2014 for the 2014 events
|
| What is a pass code? |
| |
A pass code is a number that Freewheelers members (who joined/renewed between Oct 1 and Dec 31 of 2014) receive in an email that you can use to access early registration for the Assault on Mt. Mitchell. Early registration is from Feb 1at 7:00 AM EST through Feb 15 at 7:00 AM EST. If you do not use your pass code during this time you can still register on the 15th, but the price will have increased. |
| When/how will I get my pass code for the 2015 events? |
| |
Pass codes will be EMAILED in January of 2014. The date will be posted here once that becomes available. |
| |
Please be certain that you have removed your SPAM blockers and/or check your Junk Mail folder. To be certain that your email address is on file, email memberships@freewheelers.info with your name and preferred contact. |
| Can someone else use my pass code to register? |
| |
No. Unfortunately, only Freewheelers members can sign up during the first two weeks of February. We will be checking names against the database and assessing appropriate fees. |
| Why don't people who rode The Assaults last year get early pass codes for registration this year, too? |
| |
The Assault on Mt. Mitchell has always been intended as a club ride. Therefore, club members have the first chance at purchasing a ride number. In years past, the club has not had so many members as to fill the event (and many of us are volunteering along the course). This also allows new riders to try the event, as handing out over 2000 pass codes to previous year's participants would mean the event would undoubtedly sell out before opening to the general public. This year the ride will be open to club members first and then on a first come first serve basis on February 1st. |
| How many ride numbers will go to general entry on Feb 1st? |
| |
We cannot predict an exact number, of course, but generally there are 300-400 numbers available when open to the public. |
| Can I transfer my number to someone else? |
| |
An Assault on Mt. Mitchell registration / bib number can be transferred to someone else should a rider be unable to participate. However, there is a fee of $30 for transferring a registration. The fee will be applied to BOTH parties involved. In other words, the owner of the original number and the person to which it is sold will each pay $30.
Please be aware that transfers ONLY apply to registration fees and DO NOT apply to any additional purchases such as bus tickets, apparel, lunches, etc. No refunds will be issued for those items and the new registrant will need to purchase additional items separately on the event registration site.
The option to transfer will become available beginning Feb 15th, 2015. ABSOLUTELY NO TRANSFERS WILL BE ALLOWED AFTER FRIDAY, MAY 8th at 5:00 PM!
To help you get the word out, we recommend posting your interest in selling or buying a registration on the Assaults Facebook page: Assaults on Mt. Mitchell & Marion, and if you are a Freewheelers club member, you can also e-mail it the Freewheelers yahoo group: FreewheelersOnline@yahoogroups.com. If you do not have access to either of these outlets, then e-mail your request, including your contact information to director@theassaults.com and they will post your request on both.
Please note that neither the Freewheelers nor Go-Green Events will be involved in the actual selling of the registration. It is the responsibility of the two parties involved to work out any payment details.
Once a seller and buyer have an agreement between themselves they can initiate a transfer by contacting the Director (director@theassaults.com). They will then provide you with a link to the transfer process on Go-Green events.
|
| Do The Assaults offer Refunds? |
| |
Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds or credit registration fees towards next year’s event as this event has limited entries, early financial commitments, and a very tight budget. However, it is possible for registrants to transfer a number to someone else!
Note: In the case of accidental double registration, it is possible to get a refund if you contact the Director (Click here) within 24 hours of purchasing an entry. As with Transfers, there will be absolutely NO refunds for bus tickets. Purchased Accessories and Items can be mailed after paying an additional shipping & handling fee.
There is a $5.00 processing fee for all Refunds. ($10 for all International Refunds)
