Freewheelers Meeting: September 13, 2004
Attendance: approximately 35 members

Paul LeFrancois conducted the meeting in absence of a president.
Speaker: Anna Blestal Topic: “Proper Hydration”
*Anna provided a USATF new hydration guideline for everyone. Although this was written for runners, some of the same principles apply to cyclists. More information on hydration can be found at www.usatf.org <http://www.usatf.org>.

*Jeff Cook thanked everyone who participated in the Tour de Paws.
The ride raised between $5300-$5500 for the Spartanburg Humane Society.
Gloria Anderson suggested placing an article in the Spartanburg Herald recognizing the ride’s success in raising money for the Spartanburg Humane society.
Richard Dillard proposed having the Spartanburg Humane society recognize the Freewheelers in “Letters to the Editor.”

--Paul LeFrancois announced that the PCC socks are now available to members for $8 and non-members for $10. (You can directly buy these socks from Paul or they are also available at local bike shops .)
--In memory of cyclist Garrett Wonders, “Share the Road” magnets are being sold. The money from these will be given to a fund at Ohio State for a serious cyclist pursuing his education there. More details about obtaining these magnets will be available at the next meeting.

*Arthur Danfy announced if anyone wanted to order Freewheeler apparel, he needed to do so immediately.

*Paul LeFrancois asked if any of the people who were nominated for the officers’ positions would like to share anything about themselves or their goals for the club. Marly Divver, nominee for President, expressed her passion for cycling and volunteered to help anyone start cycling. Mark Kayser, nominee for treasurer, said that he would have to think about the officer before he could commit himself.

*Mark Kayser, owner of Bike On, also announced that he will still be giving the Freewheelers 10% discount, but only if they pay by check or cash. Anyone using a credit card will receive 7% discount.

*The election of vacant officers will take place at the next meeting on October 3rd at 7:00 at Fuddruckers.
