November 5th, regular club meeting and board meeting minutes.
The meeting was called to order at 7pm and after we talked about
membership charges from active.com we discussed the fact that
David Queen had registered the Assault on Mt Mitchell name as
his to use for his website. He was using it as redirect so that
when someone puts that URL in the url window on their browser,
it would go directly to his website. Mr. Queen arrived at the
meeting to explain his side of the story. He stated that he just
did it to get more traffic thru his website. After some discussion
he agreed to give the Freewheelers ownership of the URL assaultonmtmitchell.com.
Jim Brown, Treasurer, gave him a check for $10.00, the amount
he said it cost him to get the above mentioned URL. Later in
the meeting he gave the check back and he said he'd just donate
the URL to the club.
1. 2008 Budget - to be reviewed for presenting in next meeting
for expenses
available for club supported activities.
2. Jean Crow provided a list of three projects that PAL is undertaking
this year. She asked that the FW consider funding any or all
of them, in addition to the annual $5,000 sponsorship of Bike
Town that FW has given for the last three years. After some discussion,
Andrew Danfy moved that the board commit to a $5,000 sponsorship
of Bike Town for the upcoming year and Steve Yetman seconded.
The motion was unanimously approved and Jean Crow abstained from
voting. After further review of each of the three PAL projects,
the board suggested that Jean ask major retailers to donate new
comfort bikes to Hub Cycle but was supportive of the other two
requests for funds. Jean agreed that asking major retailers for
that support was a good idea.
3.Marly Divver moved that the FW provide $2,500 in funds for hiring
hourly mechanics for Hub Cycle and $750 for sponsoring the Building
Our Future Speaker Series and Ken Dresher seconded it. The motion
was unanimously approved and Jean Crow abstained from voting.
4. Plaque for presentation ceremony. The design was presented
and approved. Suggestions on adding the date of presentation and
possibly the Freewheelers logo were made. The total cost to club
would be just under $2,500 for artwork and casting. The city is
to handle the installation.
5. PCC Sponsorship discussed- The club has been a Platinum member
for 2 years. There will be about $1250 counted from this year's

from board upon budget review will determine amount of PCC sponsorship
subsidizing.
