Subject: Freewheelers Meeting Minutes
Meeting called to order 7pm at the Spartanburg SC downtown Library. Members count of 22 - 25+ were present.
First order of business, officer reports.
Webmaster - (out of town)
Paul L. - PCC Report, Sept the PCC will go to Delpt public
safety conference, (700 - 800 law officers will be present) discussion
of bike safety laws.
National publicity is happening on the bike law changes.
Funding on Bike Safety workshops are pending.
A New PCC T-Shirt is avaialble in Traditional cut of Cool
Blue, White, And Gray colors. Womens cut of Cool Blue, White,
and Pink. Paul will send out info on e-mail group.
Jim B. - Treasurer. $44K+
in assests and still paying on Assaults bills. Will have more
for reporting in next meeting.
Volunteers, busses, and food is paid.
Jean C. Public Relations- On the hit and run a few weeks ago, the guy turned himself in after seeing the articles and publicity of the incident.
Arthur- Racing, BMW & Donaldson center has events that can be checked out.
Mark J. - Club-State picnic is Aug 16, getting permission for Sept. Labor Day ride.
Marly - Mitchell, John
Bryan has begun new treatment and is doing well.
A Special Mt. Mitchell T-Shirt was at the meeting for
all to sign to be given to John.
Guest Speaker - (Mr. Meford ? ) Blueridge Parkway Foundation
(and club member), The 75th anniv. of the Parkway is coming up
in 2010.
They want to raise awareness of the Parkway and promote
the "Parkway Experience" not necessarily the road.
There are over 36 activities that are on the parkway from
the Assault, to camping, hiking, etc. (including longboarding).
In that, there is an essay contest for your Assault experience.
There is a $300 prize and voting will be online.
Winner to be announced in October.
Due to government funding and the present economy, the
parkway is quickly losing personel and will be down to about 1/2
of
its former amount within the next few years.

The president will assume the responsibility of the Tour Director and the Newsletter editor during the interim.
A proposal was made and was
second to absorb the newsletter into the Freewheelers website,
pending board discussion review and bylaw adjustments for upcoming
board meeting.
