Meeting Minutes for 06/06/05

Presiding: Marly Divver

Marly opened the meeting at 7:05 PM. She welcomed new members in the crowd.
The following reports were given.
Finances: Betty Campbell gave financial report. She reported most of the bills were in from “The Assault”. Total monies- $38,052.48 and in savings - $19,111.38.
Touring Report: None given - Greg Kyser not in attendance.
Steve Yetman presented the details on the ride across SC. The trip is 4 days/3nights, first 20 people to sign up. He made a proposal for the club fund up to $500 for financial support. It was made as a motion, and a second was made and was approved by unanimous vote.
Racing Report: Andrew Daffy informed the club that we have some club apparel left and it is half price with limited sizes. Contact him if interested. The Crit was a success and he thanked everyone who came out volunteered.
Public Relations: Richard Dillard displayed all the articles that were written up on BikeTown. It was noted that the club was very impressed with all the Letters sent in to the paper for cycling by club members.
PCC: Paul reported that BikeTown was having a meeting on Friday to review the Bike Town activities and to start thinking about the event for next year. He reported on the May 18th Ride with a Politician in Columbia was a success. He also encouraged members to sign petition for bike legislation for the Bike to Work bill. If you haven't signed, please do so in support for the bill. Currently there have been 696 “Share the Road” plates sold. Also has PCC cycle clothing for sale to support safe cycling.
The Charleston Cycle Fest is scheduled for 1st weekend in November. Tour de Leaves- October 8th.
Membership: Currently we have 291 members - 63 female /228 male
Assault Report: Mike Bonner reported there were a lot of thanks to hand out to the volunteers. Jeff Cook gets all the credit for the Cue sheet that everyone appreciated. He reported 3 crashes, with one involving a possible broken shoulder but was unable to verify. Rest Stop 6 was the biggest concern for the event. They were in a blind curve, but thankfully maintained a safe stop. There were a lot of parking tickets written for individuals who parked in the wrong spots. One cyclist was given a ticket for running a stop sign in Marion. The hope is that next year the old course will be back and the Saturday start will back.
Tygerville Report: Ken Sanders is the Event Director and Needs volunteers! Please support him and this event. He has to support 3 rest stops! If you can help out please notify him.
After the reports, Paul presided over the elections. There were no nominations from the floor to contest the proposed slate of officers. They were unanimously approved. The office of treasure had 2 nominees on the ballot, a vote per the membership was performed and Jim Br5own was elected. There was no other business to conduct and Marley adjourned the meeting at 8:05 PM
