Item One: Minutes from the January meeting were approved.
Item Two: Jim Brown read the Treasurers report. A draft for the 2006 Budget Projections was passed out. Next month we will vote on whether we approve it.
Item Three: Andrew Danfy Racing Report
The new uniforms are in and can be picked up from Andrew. The
Vic Bailey VW Classic Downtown Criterium will be held Friday,
May 5th. He needs 10 volunteers for the day on Friday to help
with setup.
Februarys Celebrating 175 Years of Spartanburg bike ride
will have the theme History. Andrew will be leading
this 34-mile ride on Sunday, Feb. 12th at 1 PM from Morgan Square.
Greg Kyzer will be firming up the final open spaces for the remainder
of these rides and announce all the dates and leaders in the near
future.
Item Four: Greg Kyzer Touring Report.
The Winter Bike League has been averaging 45-50 participants.
Pauls January ride had 40 riders. The Chocolate Adventure
Ride will be held Saturday, Feb. 11th from the Great Escape.
The Assault Training Series begins Feb. 25th. Cycle SC will be
held July 12-15 and will be a loop course.
Item Five: Richard Dillard Publicity
Richard drew our attention to Yon Lambert who is with the Palmetto
Conservation Foundation as is a big cycling advocate. The Greenville
News ran an editorial written by George Hincapie discussing this
region and cycling.
Item Six Ricky Darwin Newsletter Information
The Seat Post is looking for articles, pictures and ride information.
Please email these to him as well as any other suggestions you
might have by Feb. 18th.
Item Seven: Paul LeFrancois - PCC Report
Paul will be heading to Columbia tomorrow for a meeting with Fox
News & SC Department of Transportation. A Health Fair will
be held April 29th on Heart Awareness/ Heart Illness. The month
of May will bring a ride with legislators promoting bike safety
and awareness. The Ride of Silence, which draws attention to
share the road with cyclists, will be held May 17th this year.
Item Eight: Jeff Cook Bike Shop and Insurance Information
Please remember to support the three local bike shops. Jeff is
working on our insurance renewal.
Item Nine: Ken Dresher Membership
We have 413 members. 331 have renewed for 2006. This does reflect
a significant increase in membership from this time last year.
Item Ten: Steve Yetman
125 members have registered to The Assault on Mt. Mitchell. On
Feb. 19th registration ends for members. Feb. 21st on-line registration
for all previous riders and members begins.
Bethany Davidson reminded us that the 200 km brevet would be held March 25th.
Dave Procters son, Michael, was shot last week. He is out of the hospital after surgery to wire his jaw. The club will send a card and a supply of his favorite liquid food replacement (Greg Kyzer will find out what that is).
Our next meeting will be held March 6th at Coronas Restaurant on Blackstock Rd. (across from the new Lowes). Please come at 6:30 for dinner and the meeting will begin at 7.
The meeting adjourned at 8:00.
