FREEWHEELERS’ MINUTES for January 8, 2007
Andrew opened the meeting at Broncos Restaurant 352 E. Blackstock Rd
Minutes from November 6 were approved.
17 members were present.
A 3 year contract for Steve Y. to be Webmaster was assigned.
Lollapalooza: The library needs someone to run it. It will die if we do not do it. There is sponsorship for this year.
Board Meeting: Jan 8, 2007 at Starbucks at 5:15 PM to discuss Mt Mitchell.
Arthur Danfy: No x-large jerseys left. Check the website for club clothing.
Newsletter: Several people opted out of hard copies.
Treasure: Membership at 430 for 2007
We will discuss the budget at the next meeting.
Paul: Bill concerning bicycling laws in SC
Key Points:
1. Eliminates side path law.
2. Defines a bike lane
3. Eliminates requirement that you have a bell.
4. Makes legal a right turn signal by pointing the right hand in the right direction.
5. A hand turn doesn’t have to be continuous for 300 feet.
6. Minimum clearance of 5 feet for passing a biker
7. Slow speed law—as far as right as possible.
8. If you are traveling at the same speed, you can take the lane.
We need to get political support
Ask representatives to cosponsor this bill, House Bill 3006
James Smith (D - Columbia) is the original sponsor of the bill. 
Bob Walker is the head of the committee.
Members should contact Doug Smith, Bob Walker and other reps from Spartanburg to become cosponsors.
We will contact representatives to come and speak to the club.

There are currently no licensed instructors in SC
Bicycle Workshop—March 23-25
—teaching how to plan bike lanes and routes and use them properly.
$170 in tip money from the Christmas party. It will be donated to Mobile Meas and the Humane Society
