FREEWHEELERS’ MINUTES
January 3, 2005
Meeting Place: Fuddruckers
Time: 7:00-7:45 P.M.
Main topics: Million miles, Bike Town, Insurance

ITEM 1—MEETING PLACE
Suggestions for upcoming meetings: Golden Corral, Palmetto Grill, Billy D’s East.
Marly Divver, President, volunteered to check the availability and price of each restaurant.
Steve Yetman will send a yahoo poll for voting.

ITEM 2—MILLION MILES
All Freewheelers are encouraged to send their miles in monthly to Les MacBay whether they
ride 5 miles, 50 miles or 500 miles for the month. These miles will be accumulated to reach our Club goal of a million miles. Miles should be sent to million@freewheelers.info <mailto:million@freewheelers.info>.

ITEM 3—MINUTES & REPORT
Greg Kyzer made a motion to approve last month’s minutes and Andrew Danfy 2nd the motion.
Betty Campbell gave the treasurer’s report of the Freewheelers’ savings and checking account.

ITEM 4—TOURING REPORT
Greg Kyzer reminded everyone of the weekly Thursday night ride at the Andersons as well as the Sunday ride at Bike On. Marly is now heading a ride on Sunday afternoon from the Panera Bread called “What’s the Hurry Ride.” Be sure to announce and watch for rides on e-ride.
No one should have to ride by himself.

ITEM 5—BIKE TOWN
Paul LeFrancois handed out a sheet w/an update of the Bike Town project. He asked for everyone’s participation and support. Our goal is to help Spartanburg become a “bicycle-
friendly community.” We will need extra volunteers the week of Bike Town
(May 14-21, 2005). Also, Paul would like everyone’s input for the logo. This project
has been made possible by a $106,000 grant from the Mary Black Foundation.
Yon Lambert was present to share Paul’s enthusiasm and insight.

ITEM 6—PCC
Paul reported that 2005 was a good year for cycling.
Cooper River Bridge will be open about the same time as the Mt. Mitchell ride.
Bridge will be named in honor of Garrett Wonders.
Membership renewal for PCC is now the same as the Freewheelers. New year: time to renew.
Note: the next issue of Spartanburg magazine will be featuring an article on cycling.

ITEM 7—MEMBERSHIP & INSURANCE
Ken Drescher announced we presently have 102 members for 2005.
For clarification: Freewheeler insurance is only applicable for Freewheeler members who are on a Freewheeler sponsored ride. Non-members are not covered.
