Formed in 1973, the Freewheelers of Spartanburg, South Carolina is a non-profit community service organization, the purpose of which is to provide education and promotion of bicycle safety and a forum for amateur sports competition and touring.

Registration for the Assault on Mt. Mitchell for 2014 opened on Jan. 15, 2014 to members of the Freewheelers
and opened on Feb.1 to the general public.
Cost of registration for Mt. Mitchell is $135
Cost of registration for Marion is $40
GREAT NEWS!! Great Escape is offering Freewheelers members a $70.00 tune up for $40.00! Freewheelers also receive a 15% discount on all cycling items, including wheels, in the Spartanburg store. Shop labor and bikes are excluded.
Need a bike? There is special pricing on bikes for members depending on the bicycle.
The 10th Annual North American Handmade Bicycle Show will be held on March 14-16, 2014 in Charlotte, NC. NAHBS showcases the talents of individuals around the world whose art form is the bicycle. It aims to be a meeting point–both online and in person–for frame builders and cycling enthusiasts looking for custom- made bikes, for the sharing of ideas, and the promotion of a special industry with a rich history dating back to 1819.
