Q - I ordered the wrong size jersey. What should I do? Julie
A- We have ordered a few extra jerseys in all sizes, however, it will be on first come first served basis for exchanges. This can be done on Sunday, June 8th at packet pickup. Pickup starts at 2pm and ends at 8pm at the Memorial Auditorium.
Q - We plan to sign up for the bus ride back to Spartenburg. Are there multiple buses that go back or just one? We are trying to determine what time we may get back into spartenburg and whether we should plan to spend the night or just drive back Tuesday.
A - Of the 454 riders that have registered so far (as of January 28th), there are 143 riders that have chosen the bus ride back to Spartanburg. We lease 50 passenger busses based on the number of riders that take this option. They are air conditioned busses, a tourist type bus that you see out on the highway. Our leasing company provides the drivers. We use multiple busses and they leave the Tom Johnson's Campground in Marion when they fill up as riders come back from the mountain and have cleaned up and eaten.
Q - If we decided to drop a car somewhere, are we allowed to park a car near the finish at Mt. Mitchell? I read at one point there were some restrictions into the park
A - There is no parking at Mt. Mitchell or even near Mt. Mitchell. You can, however, drop a car at Tom Johnson's Campground on Sunday. You can drop it off between the hours of 1 pm and 7 pm on Sunday, June 8th. There is a $5.00 fee, and there is a guard that patrols the camp ground. However, you'd be responsible for any losses.
Q - If we sign up for Mitchell, and one of us cannot finish, can they stop at Mt. Marion and take the Mt. Marion bus back to Spartenburg.
A - The busses that the Marion riders use is the same as the Mitchell riders. They all leave from Tom Johnson's in Marion. Tom Johnson's is the staging area for both events as the first 73 miles of the course run concurrent.
Q -
I did not do the Assaults last year. I am however a member of
the Freewheelers. Will I get a passcode?
The website under FAQ says so. But in HOW TO GET ON THE MAILING
LIST FOR THE ASSAULT ON MT MITCHELL...this is not mentioned.
My daugter & I really want to plan, train for and do the assault
& we want to make sure that we completely understand &
complete the process.
Sincerely
Ruth
A - Ruth,
If you are a club member for 2008, you will receive a passcode
in the US mail, sometime in January. You must be a 2008 club member
before January 1, 2008 to be included in the passcode roster.
Your letter of instructions with the passcode will show the date
that the registration for club members will start and it will
be for 3 weeks.
I do not know when the passcodes will be sent out, I have to wait
for January 1st and send the club members' names to active.com
for them to assign the passcodes. Then when I receive that, I'll
send out the passcodes to all club members via first class mail.

Q - HEY GUYS
Any chance of an Assalut Training Ride in late Feb. and/or early-mid
March?
I am already looking forward to the next season and have always
enjoyed kicking off in Feb with the first training ride.
See you soon. Keep up the good work.
Andy
A -
Andy,
nope,
we had complaints last year that we started to early for the June
event.
that is why we start later for 2008.
sorry.
Steve
Q - I rode to the top for three years. Last year I went on line to get my ticket 20 or so minutes after the start time and they were all gone. Will I be on the list this year so I can get my code and try it again? (11/24/2007)
Tim
A - No
==========
Q - If I join the freewheelers do I get a code?
Tim
A - Yes. Members that join or renew prior to December 31, 2007, 11:59 pm EST, will automatically receive a passcode via US Postal Service and have 3 weeks to sign up for Mitchell. Then the balance of the rider numbers will be available for non Club members.
