Freewheelers of Spartanburg
Formed in 1973, the Freewheelers of Spartanburg, South Carolina is a non-profit community service organization, the purpose of which is to provide education and promotion of bicycle safety and a forum for amateur sports competition and touring. Cyclocross

Cyclo-cross is a USA cycling road discipline that is only sanctioned from September-February. Cyclocross courses are at least 1.5 miles but not more than 2.2 miles in length and can consist of grass,trails sand,gravel and pavement. The course should have at one section where the rider is forced to dismount thier bike for a barrier such as steps,sand or wood planks 12 to 16 inches in height. The Freewheelers are planning a cyclocross event in October of 2012 at Va Du Mar McMillan Park.
