Cyclo-cross is a USA cycling road discipline that is only sanctioned from September-February. Cyclocross courses are at least 1.5 miles but not more than 2.2 miles in length and can consist of grass,trails sand,gravel and pavement. The course should have at one section where the rider is forced to dismount thier bike for a barrier such as steps,sand or wood planks 12 to 16 inches in height. The best way to find info on cyclocross races is go to USACyling.org and search events in your area. The Freewheelers are planning a cyclocross event in October of 2012 at Va Du Mar McMillan Park.
